Legendary horror film composer John Carpenter returns to his familial trio alongside his son Cody and godson Daniel Davies for Noir, the fourth instalment of their Lost Themes series on Sacred Bones Recordings. Dubbed “soundtracks for the movies in your mind” by Carpenter himself, this selection naturally takes influence from the rich film noir genre in spirit more than practice. Synths and guitars are still the game here, but the tracks like ‘He Walks By Night’ certainly portray a similarly seedy underbelly. In any case, Lost Themes IV is another fine showing from Carpenter and Co. and further proof of the man’s late career renaissance.
